Our Big Date

Since Dad and Brandon went to scout camp for the week, I figured it was my big chance to steal a date with Chris.
For once we were able to see a movie that Dad didn't see first !!!!!

I think that I scored the best date in town actually. We got all dressed up and went out for great Pizza. We had such a good time there that we totally left the leftovers on the table :0( That is really becoming a habit that I could do without.
After that we headed to the movies. Harry Potter here we come.

Pizza, popcorn and the movies with the most handsome blond hair, blue eyed boy in town. I think that I'm pretty darn lucky!

He's back!

At the last minute I found out that I was going to be able to fly out to Virginia and be there for John's graduation! Thanks to some great friends I was able to get a flight on Southwest and fly in a day before his graduation and then drive home with him. We stopped in St Louis to see some friends for a few days. It was so nice to see everyone again. As we drove around St Louis we were struck with an odd feeling. Almost like it was home (well except for the fact that we couldn't go home!) At about 10:30pm we left St Louis for an all out push for Ogden Utah where our kids have been for the last week.

What a long drive. My bumb still hurts! Early tomorrow morning we are driving the final 4 hours home to Boise! I will be very happy if we don't drive anywhere for quite some time!

John comes home this week!!!!!!!

We are all super excited!!! John gets to come home this Friday. He still has to drive all the way across the country but nonetheless. Its over!!!
This has been by far the longest time that we have ever been apart. Whew :0) glad its over.

If plans all go well then I might be able to fly to St Louis and meet him as he drives through. We would get to stay for a few days and visit with friends also! Cross your fingers!

Home Safe and Sound

Wow, what a trip! I feel like it was a whirlwind of going here and there, seeing all that there is to see in that area. We didn't even scratch the surface!
We have seen Yorktown, Williamsburg, the outside of Jamestown (it closed before we could make it) Virginia Beach, a few Army posts, and one Marine Post (not on purpose).
Made a million wrong turns, and almost wet my pants several times with laughter.
Perhaps my favorite day was our last, which we spent in DC. We took a hop on hop off tour bus around DC We saw the National Archives, The Smithsonian (Museum of history) (the hope diamond was in there wooooo hooooo ) Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial (very awesome!!!!! ) The White house of Course, the Department of Engraving (Loads of money there)Union Station, Thomas Jefferson Memorial. I think that was it. Whew!!! my calves hurt.
We didn't get to go see Arrlington because we ran out of time. I would have loved to see more but alas, I guess we will just have to go back.

The trip home however wasn't as fun :0) Woke up at 3:45 DC time, cab arrived at 4:50 and was off to catch the 8:00 flight out of DC. My Aunt stayed for a wedding up in Pennsylvania, so I was on my own. Made the flight to Seattle fine and arrived in Seattle 5 hours later at 10:00am Pacific time. Tried to get on the 11:00 flight (got bumped) tried the 1:00 (got bumped) Had a sure fire plan to catch the flight into Lewiston and then on to Boise at 2:30....... I got on!!!! yea.... oh wait..... Landed in Lewiston with mechanical problems so had to unload the plane. Didn't look like I was going to make it out of there. But thanks to a mechanic that was flown in from Boise we made it to Boise at 9:30pm Mountain time. WHAT A LONG DAY!!!!! It was wonderful to see the kids... Man I missed them... Tomorrow we get to go and get Christian from Montana YEA!!!!

I wanted to say thanks to my Aunt Sue.... She is just about the funnest Aunt out there and she was able to fly me there on a buddy pass. If I had to take anyone with me for a fun trip besides John of course I would pick her. She was a hoot... full of fun and laughter. I'll miss ya this week.

John comes home in Four weeks... The countdown begins! Can't wait to have him home. We are planning on lots of camping and fun with the kids this summer to make up for all the lost time.

Trip to visit John

I'm in Virginia with John. I landed in DC on Wednesday the 20th. John picked us up at the airport at around 4:30pm. You'd think that we would be able to go back to John's hotel (2 hours away) right at that point, but no, our bags wouldn't be arriving unitl 10:30 pm.
So into DC we went to do a bit of sight seeing before our bags arrived. Rush hour was not the best time to get our first experience of Washington DC! These people are nuts. Bikers, drivers and pedestrians are all CRAZY!!!!

After we grabbed our bags we began the 4 hour trip to his hotel in Virginia that should have only taken 2 hours.. What a wacky trip.

John had to work on both Thursday and Friday so my Aunt Sue and I were pretty much on our own for those days. Thursday was a relatively safe however Friday we headed to the mall. You wouldn't think that we could keep ourselves busy in a mall all day but somehow (with an awesome shoe sale at Dillards) we were able to occupy ourselves.... (How am I ever going to get these shoes home on the plane) :0)

Saturday we headed out to get a taste of the history that is sooooo abundant in this area. First it was Yorktown and then Williamsburg where we spent most of the day. I wish that the kids were there because we spent soooooo much time studying the revalutionary war last year.

Tomorrow (Sunday) we are headed to Virginia Beach for some fun in the sun.
I'd better go to bed..... this time change is really messing with my head. Its 12:30am and it feels like its 10:30...... John is nodding off on the couch and wondering why I'm not going to bed :0)
I wish that he was coming home the same time as I was....
I'll miss him when I leave!
Hi kids! I miss you tons!

I AM TALKING TO MYSELF!!!!!!!

Well hello self! How are you doing today? Fine thankyou... and you? oh yes, I'm doing splendid.... going a bit crazy but all in all just fine.
What are you up to these days.... well nothing much.... trying to decide how to get more involved with people around here..

Well as you can see.... I'm going a bit nutty.... not a whole ton of friends to keep me occupied and I can feel sanity slipping minute by minute :0)
Hee hee hee......
I guess I should get up and do something productive! This talking to myself nonsense is not so fun after all.....

Bye everyone (which is really just me myself and I) oh yea and Brandon! Love ya kid!

Happy Easter

The funny thing is, is that I don't think that there is anyone actually reading this blog, so I'm really just talking to myself. :0)
Oh well, I guess I'll wish myself a Happy Easter.
What a wonderful day it was! Spending time with family is really a precious thing isn't it?
Of course the house might never be the same but who needs a clean house anyway right?

What's New

As most of you know... The kids and I are on our own for the next few months. John left for Officer training the first week in February and won't be back until the first week of July. The good news, is that we get to talk to John nearly everyday and most nights we can talk to him on Skype! Love webcams!
He is doing well, although I think that he is really anxious to begin the next phase of his training which will take him to Fort Eustis Virginia.
I'm planning on a visit sometime in May! D.C. Here I come!

Some of you may know that John and I have started our own business! Its an exciting venture for us and it is bringing us blessings that we would have never imagined on our own.

The kids are doing well.. Brandon keeps getting taller and taller (I wish he would stop it already) He is now officially taller than me (even in heals). Christian is still his fun loving self. I keep expecting him to shoot up some night while he is sleeping.. Although I'm really enjoying this time while he is still shorter than me :-)
Megan is a little character and really brings a bright spot to all of our lives.... even if the boys want to throttle her at times.

We are loving Boise and enjoyed our first really beautiful spring like day today!!!!!!! Can't wait for Spring to officially arrive!
Love you all!

Here's my thought

Ok, we have now officially made it into the 21st century by creating this blogging page. (Honestly a blog sounds like something that I blow out of my nose in the morning) but blog it is.

Hopfully in my "spare" time I will be able to keep this close to up to date. We are hoping to be able to put photos of the kids and all that Jazz so that our family can see just what it is we are up to here.

Hope it works!

Montana bound for Christian

Christian is having a ton of fun in the great state of Montana! He left 2 weeks ago headed for Dillon Montana, to spend time on the Hansen Ranch.
At first he was a bit nervous to leave home. After all he is going to be gone for nearly 6 weeks.... And at the time of his departure, snow was rapidly falling on the Ranch and here in Boise we were enjoying 80 degree weather. (YIKES!)

After a bit of an adjustment he has found his groove! Early mornings and lots and lots of eating!
Christian has been helping out with the lambing season. Mucking stalls, playing, mucking more stalls, playing, eating, playing and so on.

Yesturday Grandpa Paul taught him how to drive a four wheeler! I'm jealous :0)

Time with Grandma has been enjoyable too... from the sounds of it he has tons of projects that he has been working on... One is "TOP SECRET" so I'll tell all after he comes home.

Can't wait to hear all about his adventures in Montana when he comes back!

Video call from Dad :0)

We sure miss seeing that smile everyday!

We miss you Dad!

Its been a really long 3 months! John left for officer school in the beginning of February.... He first went to Fort Benning Georgia, where he spent 2 very long months in training. After that was finished he surprised us here at home with a wonderful visit back in Boise! We were able to spend the weekend with him before he flew back to grab his truck and drive up to Fort Eustis Virginia.

Two weeks from now I get to fly to Washington DC to see him for a week over the Memorial Day Holiday! We are really looking forward to this. I only wish that I could take the kids with me.

John graduates his final school towards the end of June and then its home sweet home!

I hope he always knows how wonderful I think he is!
